Palanquin - adventure, wildlife and spiritual tours

Our sister company Palanquin Traveller has a programme offering a chance to delve deeper into the Indian Subcontinent. These tours complement The Traveller’s main programme by offering our clients the opportunity to focus more specifically on adventure, wildlife, spiritualism and local culture. For full details of the Palanquin programme please see the separate brochure enclosed within your mailing. To order a copy of the Palanquin brochure please contact our office.

What is Palanquin Traveller about?

Whether you join one of our group departures or a specially crafted Private journey, Palanquin Traveller offers you an intimate insight into the Indian Subcontinent. We invite you to experience the staggering beauty and warm hospitality of India, Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet and Mongolia.

Getting under the surface

We want you to immerse yourselves in these fascinating lands with opportunities to visit and spend time with local people.

Time to reflect and appreciate

We have designed our journeys so that you can really absorb the essence of these countries. Whether you are keen on photography, ornithology, history, riding, walking, painting, fishing or rafting, our journeys are paced so that you have time to savour all that is offered. We want serendipity for you, so we leave space for your itinerary to breathe - chance encounters often lead to the most memorable moments

Travel in the company of experts

Our leaders are of the highest calibre; enduringly drawn to the culture of the regions to which they take our groups and passionate about their specialism, be it history, art and architecture, anthropology or geography. Whether based in the UK or in the region which you want to explore, we are confident that these are competent, knowledgeable and sociable individuals with whom you will want to travel again and again.

Small is beautiful

We limit our group size to 12 people on most tours. It gives you a more personal service and prevents us being too intrusive if local people invite us into their homes. It also prevents us from leaving too heavy a footprint in fragile environments and culture.
