TOUR ITINERARY
- London Heathrow/ Muscat- Evening departure to Muscat, flying overnight.
- Muscat - Early morning arrival. Afternoon guided city tour along the Corniche viewing merchants’ houses, medieval Portuguese forts and the Sultan’s Palace. Visit Muttrah Souq and Beit Baranda in a splendid old house.
- Muscat- Morning boat trip exploring the dolphin-rich waters of the Gulf of Oman. Afternoon visit to the Natural History Museum.
- Muscat, Ras al Hadd- Today visit the impressive Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, a gift from the present ruler to his people, before departing along the coast to Ra’s al Hadd, with interesting stops at Wadi Tiwi and Sur en route. Evening visit to Ra’s al-Jinz for the possibility of sighting nesting giant green turtles.
- Wahiba Sands - Travel along the coast via Jalaan to the Wahiba Sands a breathtaking landscape of monumental dunes.
- Wahiba Sands, Nizwa- Journey by road to Nizwa. En route, visit Sinaw Bedouin Souq and Nizwa Fort, one of Oman's most impressive, oldest forts.
- Nizwa, Salalah- Explore Nizwa, including the renowned souq and the atmospheric livestock market. Return to Muscat for the flight to Salalah in the Dhofar region.
- Salalah- Visit Salalah Al Balid UNESCO site, the famed port mentioned by Ibn Battuta and Marco Polo, made wealthy from its commerce and export of frankincense and Arabian horses. Continue to Al Husn Souq and the tomb of the prophet, Job. Afternoon visit to the UNESCO site at Sumhuram.
- Salalah/ Mirba- A gentle morning’s walk along a wadi (valley). Lunch in a local town around its small harbour. Afternoon visit to a local lady who creates hand-made clay incense burners. Return to Salalah.
- Salalah- Day at leisure to relax on the beach or visit the nearby town of Mirbat.
- Salalah/ Muscat/ London Heathrow- Fly back to London via Muscat.
