TOUR ITINERARY
- London/ Beirut, Sidon- On arrival in Beirut, transfer to Sidon.
- Sidon, Tyre - Tour Sidon for the excavations at the Castle of St Louis and also view the soap factory museum, the Old Town, the souk and the picturesque Crusader ‘Castle of the Sea’. If time allows, explore the excavated ruins of the ancient port of Tyre, including the fine Processional Street and the necropolis.
- Niha, Anjar, Baalbek- Travel to the site of two Roman temples at Niha. Continue to the lush Beqa’a Valley and the dramatic ruins of the Umayyad town at Anjar. Stay 2 nights in the characterful 19th-century Hotel Palmyra in Baalbek.
- Baalbek- Explore the Classical and later ruins at Baalbek, including the spectacular Roman Temple of the Sun, standing majestically amidst the well preserved ruins, with time to visit the small museum.
- Beirut, Jeita, Byblos- Leave for the picturesque palace and private museum at Beit ed-Din. Continue to the north of Lebanon, visiting the beautiful natural grottoes at Jeita and important rock-cut stelae along the ‘Dog River’. On to Byblos.
- Tripoli- An excursion to Tripoli for the Crusader castle, Ottoman houses and characterful souk. Return to Byblos.
- Byblos- In the morning an excursion to the ancient ‘Cedars of the Lord’ at Bsharre. Afternoon tour of the ruins of the ancient city at Byblos.
- Beirut- Travel to Beirut for a panoramic city tour including a visit to the superb collections in the Beirut National Museum. Free time in the late afternoon.
- Beirut/London - Return flight to London.
