INTRODUCTION

Serbia combines dramatic settings and sites rich in history, including several UNESCO World Heritage Orthodox monasteries and churches. This tour will explore the Vinca civilisation of the 7th and 6th millennia BC, the Roman and Classical periods, Ottoman heritage and the vitality of contemporary culture. It pays particular attention to the frescoes, spirituality and artistic heritage of the Byzantine Orthodox tradition.
