INTRODUCTION

Few destinations, if any, can offer the geographical and bio-diversity of this spectacularly located Andean country, which takes its name from the line that divides the two hemispheres. Ecuador offers innumerable scenic and historical riches, from the vast tracts of its jungle interior through the mountain heartlands to the ancient remains and ecology of the coastal plains. By way of introduction to this beautiful land, which in a relatively small area offers the essence of the natural and historical variety of the whole American continent, our tour highlights vital images of Ecuador, a country whose capital, Quito, was the first ever city to be honoured with World Heritage status. There is the option of adding a visit to see the famed wildlife of the Galapagos Islands, inspiration for Darwin's The Origin of Species.

Extension: 4 or 7 night Galapagos post tour cruise, 2 night Amazon pre-tour extension
