Introducing The Traveller

Formerly the tours and travel department of the British Museum, The Traveller became an independent entity in 2003, with the same staff and strong relationships with Clients, ground handlers and of course lecturers.

In June 2010 The Traveller became part of Steppes Travel Ltd to become their specialist groups division.

Our ethos is the same today as it always has been: we aim to offer a strong programme of cultural tours, which focus around well known historic sites, as well as some lesser-known, pioneering destinations. We carefully select our lecturers based on their expertise, unparalleled knowledge of the destination or its history, and their ability to communicate with all passengers, regardless of their level of knowledge.

Our small team of permanent staff have extensive experience of many of our destinations, as well as being passionate about history, culture and archaeology. Of course this small in-house is supplemented by a wider group of expert lecturers, tour managers, ground staff and other associates, who are on hand to answer specific questions about our tours and itineraries should the need arise. We will be arranging a number of “Insight” evenings in the coming months to showcase certain tours in our programme.

Hosted by our guest lecturers, these informal evening talks will be hosted in our central London premises over a drink. The evenings will be lively and informative, allowing prospective Clients to delve deeper into a specific tour and itinerary prior to booking.
